The ninth edition of Science in the City 2020, was held in a virtual format on the 27th and the 28th of November. A yearly event held in Valletta, Malta, this edition centered around the theme “Engage, Empower, Enable”. This year’s attempt to deal with the pandemic has resulted in an exciting new outlook, with most activities presented in a digital format, allowing the festival to reach new online audiences. Science in the City, part of the EU-wide celebration, European Researchers’ Night, funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the EU’s H2020 Programme, has been recognised as an excellent festival by Europe for Festivals and Festivals for Europe (EFFE).
The University of Malta took this opportunity to disseminate awareness related to cybercrime, especially cyberattacks on smartphones, along with the promised benefits of the LOCARD project for a more secure Europe. This message was made through a video presentation as part of the Faculty of ICT's line-up at the virtual event. This presentation is still available at the site https://scienceinthecity.org.mt/event-details/faculty-of-information-communication-technology/..
